Cyber security engineers have a passion for identifying the latest cyber threats to IBM and deploying systems and tools to eliminate these threats. The goal of the cyber security engineers is to protect IBM computing environment by reducing the probability of, and to minimize the effects of, damage caused by malware and malicious activities.Cyber security engineers will help secure IBM by deploying, tuning, and managing security tools across the IBM computing environment, as well as collaborating on incidence response.
What your day would look like?
- develop actionable information in the form of technical indicators, reports, lists, rules, signatures, or indicators and warnings
- perform analysis on malware alerts as well as new indicators to detect prior compromise
- monitor external threat intelligence sources to track and report on attack campaigns external to IBM, goal is to drive updates and enhancements to IBM cyber security tools before any impacts to the business
- gain insight into attacks and responses to incidents within IBM in order to report across teams and provide metrics to IBM Executives
- collaborate with cyber security response and security operations teams to hunt for identified indicators of compromise from generated and analyzed intelligence
- develop and implement new initiatives to simplify, standardize and optimize threat intelligence reporting monitoring to reduce response times and to increase security
- work with Linux, Mac and Windows platform teams to coordinate security tool software updates
- pilot and test security tool software updates to ensure no negative impacts to workstations, prior to global deployments
- provide metrics and reporting from EU hosted tools
What do you need for your success?
- experience and skill analyzing the risk and exploitability associated with cybersecurity vulnerabilities
- experience researching cyber security industry trends
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in information security, computer science or a related discipline
- background or experience with endpoint security tools such as endpoint detection and response (EDR) products or anti-virus tools
