Your Role and Responsibilities:

IBM Tax is seeking an experienced finance or accounting professional with a minimum of 4-6 years of Finance or Accounting experience. CPA (or its equivalent) degree is a plus. The role supports Global Tax Controversy team responsible for managing global tax audits & litigation.

Responsibilities include:
- IBM data collection & analysis
- preparation of responses to external audit requests
- interacting with external advisors and government tax authorities
- communication of advanced corporate tax concepts to senior management and external stakeholders

Additional information:

Global audit team consists of four people located in Bratislava. The team reports to CHQ Tax in US and supports mainly tax audits in CEEMEA countries with the goal to extend support to European and AP major markets. There is no predefined cycle (e.g. monthly or quarterly cycle) and the work of the team depends to a large extend on the tax audits and the audit requests. Tax audit can last from half year up to one year or even more and there can be multiple tax audits open. There can be peaks, in the off peak periods team works on other projects. The work requires not only communicating and coordinating the requests however also work with the data and reports mainly in excel as the reports received often need to be further adjusted or extended to meet the request from the tax authorities. The data and documents have to be provided with meaningful explanations which will be clear to external tax authorities. The team cooperates with various functions, mainly with Accounting, Finance, Accounts payable, Accounts receivable, Treasury, Incentives.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise:

- Masters / Bachelor’s degree in Finance / Tax / Accounting
- Accounting Systems knowledge
- Minimum of 4-6 years of Finance or Accounting Experience
- Good communication skills
- Self driven and flexible

Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise:
- Experience in Corporate Taxation, including taxation of cross-border transactions
