Job information

We are looking for Senior .NET developer to the virtual team for our client. The Team is working about 40% Home Office.


Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, deploy and administer the CPT database (data model, PL/ SQL, C# API) used by pricing actuaries to set up actuarial assumptions and store quotes.
  • Build and maintain server side components triggered by database events or TCP requests, running on Windows virtual machines.
  • Develop, build and maintain deployment scripts of UIs and server components.
  • Build and maintain various WCF service clients, connecting CPT to upstream and downstream systems.
  • Build and maintain Protobuf- and .NET-Serialization-based caching layers.
  • Build and maintain UI (VB.NET/ WinForms)-database interaction based on caching and heart beating.
  • Recurringly carry out application profiling, mainly aimed at finding and fixing memory leaks.
  • Be responsible for managing dev/ test environments and implementing the production releases.
  • Set up and maintain a continuous integration environment using the companywide Jenkins installation.
  • Provide user support when needed.
  • Development tools:  Visual Studio, ANTS Profiler, Power Designer, TOAD, SVN, JIRA.




About the team

  • Common Pricing Tool (CPT) Project CPT offers a pricing calculation engine and user interface capable of pricing Term and Critical Illness and Disability Income business, using the Risk and Actuarial MoSes model as a base. By using a common model and common code, it allows pricing and valuation results to be aligned. Processes and data flows are improved between Pricing and Risk Management teams and system integration provides links to ODS-P and Quote Tracker.
  • The tool has been live since April 2011 in the UK and has since been adopted by many regions globally within Australia, Asia, Latin America, Europe and South Africa.
  • The core team consists of Developers and Business Analysts who work together to enhance the current tool and implement new functionalities as needed by the business. Each release goes through a cycle of business specification, build, SDT and UAT and finally deployment, during which time the team meet regularly to discuss progress. The main workflow tool used is JIRA. The team also operate a support network to the endusers, who expect a quick turnaround of their queries in order to carry on their day to day work.



Requirements

  • Very good knowledge of Object Oriented Programming, mainly C# and VB.NET.
  • Oracle database design and PL/ SQL development: in-depth understanding of the Oracle architecture, ability to write stored procedures/ functions, triggers, jobs. Be able to read query plans in order to provide the right indexing strategy.
  • Good knowledge of profiling tools, like ANTS Profiler.
  • English on communicative level
  • Nice to have:
  • Knowledge of Oracle Data Access Components.
  • Knowledge of server side development and the TCP-based client/ server model.
  • A true passion for programming, with the ability to find and introduce new technologies to the project team, if they can help/ simplify the current design.
