The Information Analytics Service unit supports Swiss Re's business functions in generating insight from structured and unstructured data for their business and strategic initiatives (e.g., Big Data & Smart Analytics and growth programs). A team of professionals in text, data and visual analytics provides services in four key areas:
• Analytics Consulting
Defining the business question to be answered with appropriate analytics models
• Analytics Modelling & Prototyping
Validating analytics scenarios by means of functional prototypes or pilot solutions
• Analytics Engineering
Implementing analytics solutions to solve business issues and scale their usage
• Analytics Operations
Providing incident & problem management for analytics solutions.
We are looking for a highly motivated Solution Engineer with experience in working in a global support environment to expand our Analytics Engineering team. This role will be based in our Bratislava office. As a candidate, you are a well-rounded individual with strong technical background and high quality stakeholder management as well as project management experience and good communication skills.
You have a decisive and autonomous working style and a clear focus on delivering results.
In your role you will be responsible for designing and leading the implementation of innovative big data and/or analytics solutions based on Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing and Predictive Analytics applied to structured and unstructured information.
Acting as Analytics Solution Engineer, you will work closely together with peers located in Bangalore, Zurich and United States as well as manage the work of external vendors located in Bangalore to ensure the smooth delivery in production of enterprise grade solution built on IBM Watson and J2EE technology stack.
You will be requested to be physically present in Zurich for at least 1 week once per semester.
• Design and manage analytics solutions based on IBM Watson and J2EE
• Technical project management for the development of in-house solutions together with mixed teams composed by internal Swiss Re engineers and/or external partners' engineers.
• Validate/evaluate whether a system or architecture meets business needs
• Evaluate third party analytics solutions for internal adoption.
• Configure and customize off-the-shelf products for applied solutions
• Occasionally write robust analytics applications and services in Java or Python.
• Support our Data Scientist community by designing, developing and maintaining Analytics tools for data retrieval and data storage.
• Proactively look for the possibility to automate and streamline the analytics pipeline, and subsequently implement the suggested improvements.
• Ensure timely customer communication and coordination of follow-up activities.
• Build up sustainable relationships with key business and IT stakeholders in order to become a trusted partner in the field of data analytics.

Generally required knowledge:
Essentials
• Master Study or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or Physics.
• 5+ years of experience in software development in Java in an enterprise environment.
• 2+ years of experience in managing a small sized project team (2 developers)
• Proficiency in relational databases/SQL
• Knowledge/experience or willingness to learn IBM Watson portfolio with particular focus on Watson Explorer, Watson Content Analytics and Bluemix platforms
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Strong analytical & conceptual skills to understand complex technology stacks and their dependencies.
• Excellent verbal and written English skills.
