As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you interact closely with the Business as well as your IT colleagues. Your thorough understanding of both sides allows you to plan and deliver solutions for various Business Intelligence needs across the company. You work in a team of dynamic and talented colleagues all over the globe.
Depending on the staffing of each project, your level of involvement may lie anywhere between advisory (i.e. information strategy or tool selection) and hands-on implementation. This guarantees for a broad and interesting spectrum of your work and responsibilities; not only with regards to the technologies used, but also Business expertise you will acquire and grow over time. You encounter all complexity levels of requirements: from operational to executive management BI, from standard/recurring reporting to ad-hoc analysis.
Your team 'BI Solutions & Advisory' works with all departments of Swiss Re. Business topics range from core Reinsurance (such as Life/Non-Life) to Risk Management, Finance, Asset Management and Operations. On the IT side, you interact mainly with your Data Warehouse colleagues for structured information, but also Analytics experts for unstructured sources.
With a compelling mix of state-of-the-art BI tools at your disposal, both developed in-house and licensed, you actively shape the user experience on a large scale. In close collaboration with the Big Data & Smart Analytics teams, you explore new ways of using information to deliver compelling Business insights.
Generally required knowledge:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree, typically in computer science, business administration
- 3 or more years of experience in the area of information management, data visualisation, reporting/BI
- Proficiency in SQL (MDX/DAX a plus)
- Experience in project or work stream management
- Experience in business analysis
- Experience in rich visualisations, e.g. Smart Analytics, Infographics
- Basic awareness in web development (JS/HTML5) a plus
- Basic awareness in MS BI and related Microsoft technologies like SharePoint a plus
- You enjoy interacting with numerous stakeholders with different backgrounds, priorities and levels of seniority
- You feel comfortable in a large, international, and partly off-shore environment
- You like to work independently, sometimes under great pressure
- You take ownership of a change end-to-end: from requirement to solution
- You are able to translate business requirements into technical specifications or implement them as an IT deliverable
- You are a pronounced team player
- You are proficient in English
